Asus Levels up Gaming Phones with ROG 8 Series

The gaming smartphone maker Asus forged one of the finest ROG phones for 2024, bringing a new refreshing look, a new high-performance chip, improved camera hardware, a new cooling system, and tons of gaming features. Asus’s premium ROG 8 is now official in the international markets, slaying people’s hearts with its new killer design.

The major change you’ll see in its design- Asus completely overhauls the back design of the smartphone, switching to a new sleek and lighter design, which looks stunning. The latest ROG devices aim to offer a more mainstream flagship experience than its predecessors. Another new addition is the improved cooling system you get in the ROG 8 which keeps the device cool in while gaming. 

Furthermore, Asus has changed the entire camera module design of the phone with the triple rear camera setup at the back. This time Asus incorporated the best camera lenses including a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera with best-in-class gimbal stabilization tech. The main unit is coupled with a 32MP 3x telephoto lens with 30x digital zoom and 10x hyper clarity zoom support which is the first time on any ROG Phone and a 13MP ultrawide sensor. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera for capturing stunning selfies and video chats.  

As for internals, the ROG Phone 8 series smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with massive up to 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB internal storage. You get a big 6.78-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a whooping 165Hz refresh rate and up to 2500 nits of peak brightness. It packs a 5,500mAh battery (down from 6,000mAh last year) with 65W fast charging support and it also has wireless charging support. 

The ROG 8 runs on the latest Android 14 operating system based on typical ROG UI out of the box. The rest of the features of ROG 8 include WiFI 7 support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IP-68 rating, and two USB-type C ports. 

The Asus ROG 8 retails at $1,099 for the base 12GB/256GB model and the ROG 8 Pro variant with 16GB/512GB model starts at $1,199. There is also a 24GB/1TB variant, starting at $1,499. The phone is now already up for pre-orders.
